Hi everyone. I really hope you are all okay as we experience the current lockdown situation. I just wanted to reach out and give you an update on the status of my business. Currently we are closed until 1pm Friday 2/7/21. We are hoping the NT Government will soon announce whether or not non-essential businesses such as mine will reopen this Friday. As we were in the middle of an EOFY sale, we are excited to announce that we will be extending the sale by 1 week. Until then we cannot process any orders or supply you with any services or products. I apologise for any inconvenience and hope to see you all soon.

Territory Laser Clinic Update as at 1/9/20 - Please read!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all going great and coping well with the times we are experiencing. I just wanted to reach out and give you an update on the status of my business regarding our visiting specialists Dr Herbert Hooi and Lyn O'Connor.

Due to the recent closure of our borders to identified active coronavirus hotspots, Sydney-based Dr Hooi is unable to travel to the Northern Territory without undertaking 14 days mandatory supervised quarantine. Obviously, he is not able to do this as he has his own business in Sydney with those patients to attend to. He hopes the hotspot is lifted for his area by October 2020. We will keep you posted. For those who are on Dr Hooi's call-back list, we will be in touch once the borders open. For those who are wanting to be placed on his list, please call Holly or Kathy on 8984 4110.

Lyn O'Connor lives in QLD and feels she cannot risk coming to the Territory in case the borders close whilst she is here. Like Dr Hooi, Lyn also has her own business in the Sunny Coast with patients to attend to. She is hoping to make the trip in the new year (2021). For those who are on Lyn's call-back list, we will be in touch. For those who are wanting to be placed on her list, please call Holly or Kathy on 8984 4110.

We look forward to seeing them both again soon. For more information regarding listed hot spots, click here: https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/travel/quarantine/hotspots-covid-19.

Territory Laser Clinic Update as at 1/5/20 - Please read!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all going great and coping well with the times we are experiencing. I just wanted to reach out and give you an update on the status of my business.

Yesterday the Northern Territory (NT) Government took incremental steps towards easing restrictions put in place to combat coronavirus (COVID-19). They released the 'Road Map to the new Normal' which outlines what will change and when changes will happen.

Click on the links for more information:

https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/819106/roadmap-faqs.pdf

A three step principles-based roadmap has been planned to take the Northern Territory (NT) to the new normal. Steps are derived from the best available evidence and advice, applied in the context of the NT. Read below to find out more.

Stage 2 - Friday 15 May

Stage two will commence when the Northern Territory Government decides it is safe to do so. Stage two is anticipated to commence noon 15 May 2020. Activities included in step two must be undertaken in less than two hours. In stage two you can:

  • Operate or attend a beauty therapy salon for (non-facial) services, such as nails, massage and tanning.

Stage 3 - Friday 5 June

Stage three will commence when the Northern Territory government decides it is safe to do so. Stage three is anticipated to commence noon 5 June 2020. Prior to resuming operation all businesses and organisations to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place. A guide will be available to assist the development of a tailored plan to apply the principles specific to each place. In stage three you can:

  • Operate and access all previously restricted services at a place that provides beauty therapy and/or cosmetic services including facial care.

This means we are re-opening at noon on Friday 15/5/20 for non-facial therapies that take less than 2 hours e.g. Laser Hair Removal from the neck down. We are then re-opening for ALL SERVICES at noon on Friday 5/6/20. All restrictions are now lifted which means I can perform all treatments on offer at Territory Laser Clinic!

Kathy and I have the huge task of contacting all patients who have missed their treatments due to Covid-19, please be patient if we have not connected with you yet. Alternatively, please feel free to call us on 8984 4110. We look forward to welcoming you back to Territory Laser Clinic next week! So exciting!!!

Territory Laser Clinic Update as at 9/4/20 - Please read!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all going great and coping well with the times we are experiencing. I just wanted to reach out and give you an update on the status of my business.

On the 25/3/20 we received legal advice from APAN (our advisory network) in relation to the closure of beauty salons that:
"Currently the PM directive is silent about laser clinics and cosmetic injectable services. As such, business' need to make sure they are not offering beauty treatments otherwise they can be classified as a “beauty salon”.

At Territory Laser Clinic we do not offer any beauty treatments so therefore we were advised:
“As a laser and cosmetic medicine clinic the current shutdown restrictions do not apply to us. We have been legally advised that the PM’s directive clearly states the shutdown of “beauty salons” but is silent about our specific practice area. Until further notice, we therefore will continue to trade abiding by the current “social distancing laws” as well as implementing the strictest infection control standards as set out by our territory health department and our industry standards body/association. We take your safety seriously.”

A Coronavirus (COVID-19) clinical safety policy was immediately implemented, as well as infection control protocols. A risk assessment was carried out on my clinic which was deemed extremely low as I'm an owner/operator and there is only one patient in my clinic at a time. In addition, Darwin has NO cases of community transfer.

Even though I could have closed my doors at that stage, I continued to trade whilst the 'grey area' was being clarified. The main reason I did this was NOT for money, but to help my many acne clients who are currently undergoing medical grade skin treatments. We all know that acne is a debilitating skin condition which not only effects clients physically but has a mental and emotional impact. The response from the parents of these youths was that they were so appreciative of my efforts.

During this past 2 weeks, I was also in contact with the Public Health Unit at the Dept of Health looking for clarity and advice. We finally received the clarity we were looking for yesterday morning, and it's with a heavy heart that I advise that I can no longer perform any treatments at Territory Laser Clinic.

The Dept of Health emailed me yesterday:

"Dear Holly,

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the closure of beauty therapy activities including cosmetic injectable and laser clinics, we are reaching out to you and other similar business' to provide clarity on the restrictions that have been placed on your business during the COVID-19 pandemic response.

The Department of Health considers cosmetic injectable and laser treatments as an activity that is intended to maintain, alter or enhance a person’s appearance, as such it is by direction under the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011 that all cosmetic and laser clinics are to be closed to the public until further notice.

This is detailed under COVID-19 Directions (No. 18) 2020 under Section 5 - The following places, activities and services are to be closed to the public, including to a customer or member (h) A place that provides beauty therapy, including tanning, waxing, nail care, eyebrow care or any other activity intended to maintain, alter or enhance a person’s appearance.

As the Departments response to COVID-19 changes we will be re focusing on business in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. If you need any further advice, please contact me on the details below and to keep up to date with the latest COVID-19 information please visit: https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/

Here's how we are advised to proceed:

Laser and Dermal Therapy Clinics such as my business have now been grouped together as beauty therapy establishments, and therefore we must cease performing treatments immediately.

The clinic will remain open for retail sales of products, observing social distancing rules. Our clinic hours are as follows:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday to Friday: 10-4
Saturday 9-2
Sunday: Closed

Those patients who are having acne treatments will be contacted by me to discuss continuing their treatments from home. We are also available to speak to anytime via phone, SMS, FaceTime, email, messenger, Facebook, Instagram, and of course face to face in the clinic (observing social distancing).

I’m so sorry. We will be in touch to reschedule your appointment, or if you have future appointments these will still exist in our system, and we will notify you accordingly as the time gets closer, as we don’t know when the restrictions are ending.

Thanks for understanding. Feel free to call me anytime on 8984 4110. My email address is info@territorylaserclinic.com.au.

Both Kathy and I wish you well and all the best during this unprecedented time. We are here for you if you need us. Take care and drop by anytime.

LOVE TEAM TLC XOX
